| Apple adverts for iPod have a distinctive feature that makes them unique to iPod. The more popular commercials and print advertisements have dark silhouette characters against bright colored backgrounds. The silhouette usually appears in the ads as dancing and in television commercials are often backed by up-beat music. The silhouettes are usually in possession of iPods and will be listening to them through the use of earphones, and these earphones distinctively appear in white color so that they are visible as they will stand out against the colored background and black silhouettes. The theme of the ads is changed according to the genre of the music being used on the ad. One commercial on TV showed the silhouette theme emphasizing its icon status, the ad involved a man who was walking past a set of silhouette posters which would come to life and dance to the music being played on the iPod and would go back to still life when the person pressed pause. Commercials for the iPod shuffle typically used a green background with black arrows that moved in the background signifying the shuffle icons and the silhouettes danced on top of the arrows as if moving on a floor while listening to iPod shuffles hanging from white lanyards Following the release of the 5th generation of iPods a commercial that featured Eminem and Wynton Marsalis made radical changes to the usual style of advertising. The commercial saw Eminem sporting a white microphone and Marsalis was a drummer sporting white drumsticks and the traditional silhouettes were dancers listening to iPods. In 2006 a different kind of iPod ad was released, it was 30 seconds long and it showed album art. The album art showed a city being constructed and then was destroyed and it flowed into an iPod nano and the theme was "1000 songs in your pocket". In another version of the commercials for iPod that brought about a different style of ads was in the 2006 ad by Bob Dylan. This ad only had one silhouette facet and it was in the form of lightining being reduced to a figure of Bob Dylan and a female dancer while the iPod was only brightened.
